I'm a self taught designer/finished artist. I pretty much came into this industry by accident, but it's no accident that I'm still loving it. I've always been creative and working as a designer gives me the opportunity to turn my ideas and thoughts into digital or hard copy reality.

I'm a bit of an all rounder when it comes to sport and the same can be said with design. I have spent days retouching a beauty image knowing that the best retouching jobs are invisible. On the other hand I enjoy the challenge of creating detailed 3 dimensional technical illustrations. Packaging and displays also provide an opportunity to work and think in 3D with added attention to technical detail. A basic knowledge of HTML and Flash means that I can create simple websites and animated interactive presentations.

Recently I've re-kindled my interest in photography. While lighting products for catalogues is a challenge I'll tackle, I most enjoy working with people to create original, contemporary, commercial images.

After nearly 15 years in the industry I've learn't a lot, but the only thing I'm really sure about is, there is plenty more to learn.

GraphicDesign

My design and finished art experience includes, newspaper and magazine layouts, press adverts, corporate folders, retail and corporate brochures, stationary and point of sale collateral.

Packaging&Displays

Packaging and display experience includes tetra pack milk cartons, multi vitamin and paracetemol boxes, shippers and counter units, multiple Rain Harvesting product display cartons, Egg carton labels and Rover mower labels. Spot colours, overprints, varnishes and die lines are all well understood and utilized in thes projects. I also have ample experience with point of sale and trade show displays up to 6m x 6m.

MultiMedia

Although I don't really consider myself to be a web designer or developer, I enjoy the change of pace and utilising the different design skill set, that is required for this type of work.

VectorIllustration

Creating technical illustrations in Adobe illustrator is one of my favorite things to do as a break from design or photo manipulation. When using Illustrator I prefer to keep it somewhat 'old school' and stay away from effects and techniques that break down to bitmap images once turned into a PDF or EPS.

Photography

I've had a keen interest in photography since my mid teens, but it was in late 2006 that I bought my first digital SLR. I regularly used my Canon 400D in the studio for work projects including indoor product images, outdoor mower images, bakery products, plus retail scenes and corporate portaits. I've now upgraded my camera to the Canon 7D and still use it for work projects of all sorts.
